Mesoft: Film Dailies (Review & Approval) Workflow Example
Point (A) - Media Ingest & Centralization

a.) Tapes are loaded into deck
b.) Encoder creates hi and/or low resolution digital files and is transfered to a designated hard drive, NAS, SAN or other disk based system
c.) The digital media is then ingested into a Mesoft SELECT Server and potentially into a NLE storage repository
d.) Other office related or digital documents can be pre-loaded into the server
e.) Point (A) is defined as a central delivery server (remote or local)
f.) Mesoft SELECT Server is appropriately configured to grant access to digitized high resolution media for a defined group of users
g.) All users within the following scenario are leveraging the same centralized content

Point (B) Scenario

a.) Finance (user) starts a supported web browser and accesses company content via Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Web Edition)
b.) User inputs a uniquely assigned username and password and is securely authenticated by a Mesoft SELECT Server pre-configured for the workflow
c.) User navigates to designated folder and accesses, selects document, downloads and opens file in appropriate application. Since the user has no permissions to access folders containing media - the user will never know the media exists on the system (unless they're granted access)
d.) User logs off Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Web Edition) and shuts computer down

Point (C) Scenario

a.) Marketing (users) start Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Desktop Edition)
b.) (Each) User inputs a uniquely assigned username and password and is securely authenticated by a Mesoft SELECT Server pre-configured for the workflow
c.) (Each) User navigates to a designated folder and (depending on their individual permission) accesses, selects and plays low resolution media
d.) One user wants to ensure a piece of media content is approved for use on a campaign, marks IN-OUT point and creates a subclip
e.) The user privately messages the Marketing Manager for the greenlightusing the built-in messaging function in Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Desktop Edition)
f.) Another Marketing user views their respective accessible media and creates a bin containing a playlist to begin some initial editorial builds
g.) The user messages the Media Editor with reference of the playlist
h.) Upon completing their tasks, the users log off Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Desktop Edition) and shuts computer down
Point (D) Scenario**

a.) Media editor (user) starts Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Desktop Edition)
b.) User inputs a uniquely assigned username and password and is securely authenticated by a Mesoft SELECT Server pre-configured for the workflow
c.) User navigates to a designated media bin (notice earlier emailed by a Marketing resource) and accesses, selects and plays the low resolution rough cut for review
d.) User exports the playlist sequence to an ALE file and imports the file into a non-linear editing system
e.) User re-links the offline media with the corresponding high-resolution file and begins refining the original roughcut
f.) User logs off Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Desktop Edition) and shuts computer down

Point (E) Scenario


a.) Remote Marketing Manager (user) receives email from a staff member wanting approval for using a specific piece of content
b.) User clicks on the link within the email as it opens their default browser with the login page for Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Web Edition)
c.) User inputs a uniquely assigned username and password and is securely authenticated by a Mesoft SELECT Server pre-configured for the workflow
f.) User is presented only with the piece of media for approaval, selects and plays a low resolution version of the media for review
g.) User messages back staff member of apporval and logs off Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Web Edition)


Point (F) Scenario

a.) Legal (user) receives email from a staff member wanting approval for using a specific piece of content
b.) User clicks on the link within the email as it opens their default browser with the login page for Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Web Edition)
c.) User inputs a uniquely assigned username and password and is securely authenticated by a Mesoft SELECT Server pre-configured for the workflow
f.) User is presented only with the piece of media for approaval, selects and plays a low resolution version of the media for review
g.) User messages back staff member of apporval and logs off Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Web Edition)

Point (G) Scenario**

a.) Executive (user) turns on Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Set-top Box Edition) connected to their SD/HD display or through a projection system
b.) User inputs a uniquely assigned PIN and is securely authenticated by a Mesoft SELECT Server pre-configured for the workflow
c.) User navigates to the appropriate folder filled with spots cut from the marketing department and editorial
d.) User selects desired content and plays the media

e.) User reviews the latest cut and turns off the Mesoft's SELECT VUE-R (Set-top Box Edition)
NOTE: Your scenario may differ from the above stated but Mesoft believes it can easily configure the technology platform to suit your specific production workflow.** HD material may be delivered via courier service and physically ingested into a local server due to the inherent large file size of the material. It may not be practical to send HD material over the Internet due to the wire speed limitations.
